PEACHTREE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

ATTENDANCE PROTOCOL FOR 

PARENTS 

SCHOOL DOORS OPEN 7:45 

Breakfast ends at 8:15 

No food in hallways or outside food 

Students are marked tardy at 8:20am 

REPORTING ABSENCES 

If your child will be absent (excused or 

unexcused) please communicate with teachers 

via email, a Parent Square to teacher or written 

note when the student returns. 

Documentation is required within five days of 

student’s return to school for the absence to be 

marked Excused. 

ATTENDANCE EXPECTATIONS 

Teachers will communicate 

with parents first about 

attendance/tardies 

concerns. 

Attendance letters are sent 

to parents when the 

students receives 5,7,10, and 

15 unexcused absences. 

SARC ATTENDANCE 

MEETINGS 10+ UNEXCUSED 

ABSENCES/TARDIES 

SARC (attendance) meetings are 

conducted when students have 10 or 

more unexcused absences with 

teacher, administrator, school 

counselor, and social worker.

🕘 Why Attendance Matters

Regular attendance is essential for student success. Students who attend school consistently perform better academically and are more connected to their school community.

 


📅 Excused Absences Include:

  • Illness or injury of the student
     
  • Medical or dental appointments (with documentation)
     
  • Death in the immediate family
     
  • Religious holidays
     
  • Court appearance
     
  • Special circumstances approved in advance by the principal

 


📌 Unexcused Absences Include:

  • Family vacations
     
  • Oversleeping
     
  • Missing the bus
     
  • No written excuse provided

 


✏️ Submitting an Excuse

A written excuse must be submitted within 5 days of the student’s return to school.
Excuse notes can be submitted:

  • In writing (sent with the student)
     
  • By email to your child teacher or school counselor
     
  • Through ParentSquare to teacher 

 


🚨 Excessive Absences & Tardies

  • 5 unexcused absences = Attendance Letter
     
  • 10+ absences (excused or unexcused) = Attendance meeting may be scheduled
     
  • Excessive tardies may lead to disciplinary action
